India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi is undertaking a nine-day, five-nation trip to Ghana, Trinidad & Tobago, Argentina, Brazil, and Namibia, focusing on strengthening ties with the Global South. This extensive visit, one of his longest overseas trips, aims to enhance bilateral partnerships in areas like trade, investment, defence, energy, and development cooperation.
Key highlights include the first Indian PM visit to Ghana in three decades, the first bilateral visit to Trinidad & Tobago after 1999, and the first bilateral visit to Argentina by an Indian PM in 57 years.
Discussions will cover economic relationships, critical resources like lithium with Argentina, and participation in the BRICS Summit in Brazil to discuss global governance and multilateralism.
The trip also marks significant milestones, such as 180 years of Indian immigrants in Trinidad & Tobago and following up on initiatives like the translocation of cheetahs from Namibia to India.
