List of important amendments to the Indian Constitution
- First Amendment (1951): Added the Ninth Schedule to protect laws included in it from judicial review. - Second Amendment (1952): Provided for the readjustment of seats in the Parliament as per the population census. - Seventh Amendment (1956): Reorganized states by language, abolished Class A, B, C, D states and introduced Union Territories. - Tenth Amendment (1961): Incorporated Dadra and Nagar Haveli as a Union Territory after its acquisition from Portugal. - Twelfth Amendment (1962): Goa, Daman and Diu were incorporated into the Indian Union following their liberation from Portuguese rule. - Thirteenth Amendment (1962): Created a special provision for the administration of Nagaland with Article 371A.
